Q: How can I trust God when He doesn’t seem to answer my prayers?

A:  This is a tough one for all of us. I think the thing that helps me the most with this question is to remember the purpose of prayer. Prayer is not simply a vehicle given to us to get God to do as we ask. Prayer is a means of communing with God, growing closer to Him as we share our heart and the longings of our soul.  I believe God may delay over our prayers so that we will spend more time talking to Him about them. He could fix every issue in our lives in the blink of an eye, but that would not help us grow spiritually. We would have the tendency to view God as a heavenly genie in a bottle. We rub His lamp in prayer, and He responds with, “Yes, master.” No. God is the Master and we are His servants. The greatest privilege we have is to draw near to Him, trusting Him to be gracious and to act on our behalf at the right time.
