My daughter Amy taught me something that has totally changed my view concerning disappointments in life. If you are walking with God and something doesn't come to pass as you were hoping and praying it would, just know this: if it had been a good thing for you, He would have given it to you. Psalm 84:11 says, "For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory; no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly." I heard about a man who was training to compete in the Olympics. He spent countless hours on the track and was considered to be a front-runner in his race. During a routine practice run before the Olympic trials, he pulled a muscle and was unable to compete. When his close friend asked about the huge disappointment, he said, "If it would have been a good thing, God would have given it to me." What an awesome attitude. We can trust our heavenly Father. He is a good God who loves us and loves to give good gifts to His children. Don't get bitter in the face of disappointments. Choose to believe He has a better plan and then you’ll find REAL HOPE.
