The Sweet Sting of Conviction

We all know about Peter denying the Lord. When he did it the third time, he heard the cock crow. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. It was a look of wounded love, and Peter felt the deep sting of conviction. Can you relate to that feeling? How do you respond to it? Do you try to silence the sting … or do you embrace it? You know, conviction is not a bad thing, it’s a good thing. It shows you that you’re still hearing from God. It shows that God is still at work in your life. You and I need to embrace the conviction of the Holy Spirit … not blow it off, and not let it beat us down to nothing. We need to receive it as God’s loving correction to help us be the person He wants us to be. And the same can be true of you. When the sting of conviction comes, respond in humility and repentance. When you do, you’ll discover REAL HOPE.
