The Kisses of An Enemy

The Bible tells us that at the Last Supper, after Jesus had washed the disciples’ feet, that Satan entered Judas. Later that night in the Garden of Gethsemane, Judas betrays Jesus ... betrayed Him with, of all things, a kiss. Can you relate? Have you ever been betrayed with a kiss? What do you do when you when a trusted friend like Judas stabs you in the back? Do you get angry … or resentful … or bitter? The Bible tells us we are to do what Jesus did and pray, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). It is amazing how potential bitterness will evaporate in our hearts when we pray for the well-being and blessing of those who have hurt us. Perhaps you have gotten bitter over a former friend. God is calling you to forgive and let go of the betrayal and the betrayer. When you do, the grace and peace of Jesus will begin to flow again through your life. Now that’s REAL HOPE.
