  • Red Alert

05/8/2020 Growing up, I watched my share of TV, and few shows were as exciting to me as Star Trek. Now on Star Trek, when the ship got in danger, Captain Kirk would give the command, “Red alert! Red alert!” Once the red alert was sounded, all the crewmembers would spring into action with maximum awareness and maximum precaution. You know, the Bible tells us in 1 Peter 5:8 that we are to "be on the alert.” Continue reading…

  • Word Power

05/7/2020 Recently, I received a letter from a TV viewer whose mother had just passed away, and he was really hurting. I wrote him a handwritten note of encouragement, and later he told me it meant the world to him. That reminded me afresh of the power of our words. Proverbs 18:21 tells us, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” How true that is! Do you use your tongue to build up or to tear down? Continue reading…

  • How Firm is Your Foundation?

05/6/2020 Some years ago, a good friend of mine bought a beautiful new house, and everything seemed perfect. But within nine months, his excitement turned to grief, because the house had major foundation problems. Listen, when the foundation of your house starts to shift, every part of the house begins to suffer. Continue reading…

  • Dirty Diapers ... Yuck!

05/5/2020 I have a weak stomach and a keen sense of smell, and that’s not a good combination, especially when my kids were little, and I had to change their diapers. My goal in that nasty job was to get the old one out and the new on as quickly as possible. There are few things that smell worse than a dirty diaper. Right? Continue reading…

  • The Kisses of An Enemy

05/4/2020 The Bible tells us that at the Last Supper, after Jesus had washed the disciples’ feet, that Satan entered Judas. Later that night in the Garden of Gethsemane, Judas betrays Jesus ... betrayed Him with, of all things, a kiss. Can you relate? Have you ever been betrayed with a kiss? Continue reading…

  • The Healing Hand of Jesus

05/1/2020 Everyone I know has been hurt at some time or another by people and the circumstances of life. Bad things really do happen to you and me that wound, and cut, and break our emotional bones. What do you do when hurts come upon you? Try these four actions: 1) Don’t deny it. Continue reading…

  • Time in the Word

04/30/2020 As a Christian, you cannot make it without the Word of God. It is milk, meat and nourishment to the soul. The Bible is what God uses to speak to our hearts and help us grow. Many people come to church regularly, but they don't read the Bible regularly. Listen, if you want to be spiritually strong, start spending time with God each day. Set aside at least ten to fifteen minutes to pray and read God’s Word. Continue reading…

  • The Living God

04/29/2020 When I was a kid, the church my family attended was boring with a capital B. Minutes seemed like hours as we slogged through another service steeped with routine, ritual, and monotony. Did Jesus give His life for church to be an hour of boredom and irrelevance? Absolutely not! Meeting with the living God is supposed to be exciting and life-changing. Continue reading…

  • Am I Lukewarm?

04/28/2020 In Revelation chapter 3, Jesus told the church of Laodicea that they made him sick to His stomach because they had become lukewarm. Do you know what it means to be lukewarm? It means you are more excited about other things and other interests than you are about Jesus, the Savior of the world. It means that you are spiritually complacent and apathetic to your desperate, daily need of Christ. Continue reading…

  • How Do You Want to Be Remembered?

04/27/2020 Passion and enthusiasm ought to be the fabric of every true Christian. We should be so extremely enthusiastic about Jesus Christ and what He has done for us on the cross that we leave no doubt, as to what we are excited about in this life. It's interesting to me that the word “enthusiasm” has the Greek word for God - Theos - in the middle of it. Enthusiasm is literally “enGODiasm.” Continue reading…
