  • A Better Plan

06/29/2020 My daughter Amy taught me something that has totally changed my view concerning disappointments in life. If you are walking with God and something doesn't come to pass as you were hoping and praying it would, just know this: if it had been a good thing for you, He would have given it to you. Psalm 84:11 says, "For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory; no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly." Continue reading…

  • Grace and Truth

06/26/2020 Have you heard the age-old expression, “Love the sinner, but hate the sin?” Well, the new teaching in some Christian circles is "love the sinner and the sin." The argument goes like this: if you don't embrace the person, sin and all, you are not really expressing the love of God to them. Hmm. Does that really coincide with Scripture? Does God love the sinner and his sin? No. Continue reading…

  • Let Go of the Wheel

06/25/2020 When I was about 8 years old, my little sister and I went to a carnival for the first time in our lives and our first ride was on the iconic Ferris Wheel - the tallest ride of them all! When they put us in the little Ferris Wheel car there was a steering wheel. I grabbed the wheel and nervously held on. When we started up, the car we were placed in did't rotate like the other cars and when the wheel went up we began to go upside down. Continue reading…

  • Why Jesus?

06/24/2020 From the time I was little, I believed in Jesus. But I believed in Jesus the same way I believed in George Washington. And all my belief was in my head and there nothing was in my heart. I didn't know Jesus. I just knew about Him. But all that changed when I was 17. The Holy Spirit began to work in my heart. And for the first time in my life, I understood that I was a sinner, a terrible sinner, and I desperately needed a Savior. And I repented and put my faith and trust in Him. Continue reading…

  • Truth Sets You Free

06/23/2020 In our nation today, so many sermons seem to be exclusively focused on God's favor and blessings. If you didn’t know better, you would think God only exists to bring us our “champagne wishes and caviar dreams.” (to quote Robin Leach). Many people excitedly come to church, so they can hear about God’s grace, but they bristle under the preaching of God’s truth. If they are presented with the holiness of God, the consequences of sin, the sufferings that comes from following Christ, the reality of hell, and what God says concerning sexual morality, many will not come back. Continue reading…

  • The Devil's Lies

06/22/2020 The bible tells us that Jesus is the truth and the devil is a liar and the father of lies. The Lord always tells the truth and Satan always tells a lie. But here is the interesting thing about that. It is much easier to believe Satan’s lies than the Lord’s truth. You know why? Because Satan’s lies always match up with our feelings. Continue reading…

  • Standing Up for Truth

06/19/2020 I believe we are living in the last of the last days. The signs of Christ's soon return are all around us. One of the telltale signs that this is the last of the last days is the hatred of the world toward those who are standing up for the Lord and His Word, for absolutes, and holiness, and godly moral standards. America used to value Christianity—but not anymore. The moral revolution has cast Christianity to the side. As Al Mohler put it, “What was condemned is now celebrated, what was celebrated is now condemned, and those who refuse to celebrate are condemned.” Continue reading…

  • Marriage Is Worth It

06/18/2020 Let’s face it: having a good marriage is not easy. All marriages go through tough times … and too many couples choose to bail out rather than work it out. Most of the time, the difference between the marriages that survive and marriages that don’t is not that the one marriage had problems and the other didn’t. The difference is that one couple refused to quit! Now I know that sometimes, marriage vows are broken through repeated adultery, abuse, or abandonment, and there may be no other recourse than divorce… but for every marriage that can’t be saved, there are hundreds that can be … Continue reading…

  • Hyper-Grace

06/17/2020 There is a movement afoot that is catching fire in churches all over America. It is called the ‘hyper-grace movement.’ That term is used to describe a new wave of doctrine that emphasizes the grace of God to the near exclusion of all other aspects of His character. Hyper-grace teaching trumps truth and downplays confession, repentance, obedience, and holiness. Continue reading…

  • Grace and Truth

06/16/2020 Grace. It is such a beautiful word in the Bible. Grace is defined as the unmerited favor of God. The popular acronym rightly states, “Grace is God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense.” Grace is that which everyone needs, and no one deserves. Jesus was and is full of grace and truth. John 1:14 makes that abundantly clear. Both grace and truth are critically important. Continue reading…
