What prompted you to start From His Heart Ministries?

I feel that the Lord led me to start From His Heart Ministries to help people see the great heart of love and grace that God has for them. After all, Jesus revealed God as the Father of the prodigal son who runs to embrace and forgive any who will return to Him in repentance and faith. I believe God wants me to do everything possible to tell that story to the world through every form of media – radio, television, the web, and print. God has been faithful to open doors for us to share this message, and we pray He will continue to do so.
Is there special meaning to the name 'From His Heart'?

Heart is big for me. I was introduced to David in the Old Testament as a young Christian, and the concept of “a man after God’s own heart” just captured me. I’ve prayed for years, “Lord, I want to be a man like David. I want to have a heart for You and a passion for You like he did.” People have asked me about the From His Heart name, “Whose heart are you talking about? Is this from your heart or God’s heart?” I say, “Yes. It’s from God’s heart through my heart to the hearts of those who will listen.” I believe many preachers today speak to minds or surface emotions. God has called me to speak to hearts and impact hearts for the Kingdom of God.
What is your vision for From His Heart?

Since 2006, From His Heart has been laying the foundation for a national and international media ministry that will bring hope to millions. My vision is to see this outreach grow exponentially to reach into homes and hearts, right in the middle of people’s pain and turmoil, whatever is going on in their lives. Even if they are hitting on all cylinders, I want to offer an encouraging, powerful word from the Lord. Primarily, From His Heart exists to reach people who are struggling and who need to know God really does love them and can do something incredible in and through them!
What is the greatest challenge facing the church?

While there are many, the biggest challenge I see for the church has existed since the beginning of time: the attack on the Word of God. The very first thing that came out of the devil’s mouth when he spoke to the first human beings was an attack on the Word of God. “Indeed has God said…?” He questioned the Word of God, and then flatly denied the Word of God as he said to Eve, “You surely shall not die!” He is doing the same thing today – casting doubt on the Word and denying the Word. And why does he do that? It’s because the Bible is the foundation for everything. It’s God’s mind in print. It’s God’s love letter to His children. It’s milk, meat and bread for our souls. It’s where we learn about God and His will for our lives. When we as a society get away from Scripture, we slide down a slippery slope into destruction.
Do you have any advice for how to keep your walk with Jesus vibrant and alive?

Begin your preparation with prayer. Ask God to show you what He wants you to communicate. Always speak the truth in love. Write your message with the hearer in mind. Craft it in such a way that you are giving the hearer something solid theologically that deals with real life struggles and questions. Make sure to always bridge the gap between the biblical world and the world of today. Ask yourself the question, "So what?" What does this message do to help a person take a step of faith? If you are merely sharing information without application, you are leaving out a key piece of the puzzle.
Do you have any advice on how to balance your walk with God, your family, and your ministry?

That is a struggle for most of us. Discipline is critical here so that we can accomplish much without working day and night. I would encourage pastors with this: Wherever you are, be all there. Much of the time when we are at home, our minds can still be at the church, and we never really give our wife and kids the undivided attention they deserve. Start each day with a good quiet time. Give a good day's work to sermon prep and church/staff/ministry duties, and then come home to your family and give them quality time.
