Taking the Gloves Off
Hey, do you know who was the strongest, toughest preacher who ever lived? It was none other than Jesus! Now, He was tender, kind and gentle with broken, repentant sinners, but He was tough as nails when it came to religious phonies. In the Bible, it talks about one day Him having lunch with some Pharisees, and, man, He just let them have it ... with both barrels! He knew their hearts were rotten, so He took the gloves off and He exposed their hypocrisy. And you know, they didn't like that one little bit. Hey, if you and I are going to walk with Jesus, we can't walk in hypocrisy. A good prayer to pray is the one David prayed in Psalm 139, "Search me, O God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my anxious thoughts and see if there be any hurtful way in me." Hey, the Lord is looking for some real disciples. People who are genuine and true. He will strongly support those whose heart is completely His. Now that’s real hope.
